CBC RELEASE: Natalia Shevchenko, 33, an administrative assistant from Edmonton, Alberta, won THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW title and trophy on tonight’s finale. Meanwhile, Toronto, Ontario’s Colin Asuncion and Regina, Saskatchewan’s Jodi Robson bid a final farewell to the tent. The finale saw the three bakers return to the tent for one final showdown. For the Signature Bake, they put their own spin on a Fraisier, a French entremet celebrating the strawberry. The Technical Challenge saw them try their hand at creating a Marjolaine, a delicate dessert held up by four thin layers of hazelnut meringue, pastry cream, buttercream and ganache. The final Showstopper of the season pushed their creativity to the limit with a Pièce Montée, an edible sculpture replicating a landmark they know and love using cake, pastry, and dough, and elaborately decorated with sugar work, chocolate and confectionary...

Small cooks display extra-large talent on Junior Chef Showdown, a new culinary competition series that showcases the abilities of extraordinary young chefs between the ages of 9 and 13. Each week they face a Skills Test and a Cooking Challenge that determine who leaves the kitchen and who survives to cook another day. Tackling everything from fresh pasta to hand-whipped meringue to perfect medium rare steak, the junior chefs wow with their technique and creativity, as well as their boundless enthusiasm and support for one another. Celebrity chefs Lynn Crawford, Anna Olson and Jordan Andino judge and mentor the participants, taking on the difficult task of honing the original 14 down to just three. CBC today revealed the 10 amateur bakers who will compete in the upcoming season of THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW, premiering Wednesday, September 18 at 8 p.m. on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service. Over the course of eight episodes, this group of diverse and talented bakers from across the country will face a number of classic culinary-themed challenges, in an effort to achieve their personal best and ultimately win the Great Canadian Baking Show title. As previously announced, Season 3 of the fan favourite series will be hosted by Carolyn Taylor and Aurora Browne, two of the co-creators, executive producers and stars of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Baroness von Sketch Show.
