Since opening its doors in 2004, Proper Television has become one of Canada’s most successful production companies. Proper works across a wide range of genres, including reality, lifestyle, documentary and specialist factual programming. The company’s ratings-grabbing slate includes a mix of originals: Motel Makeover (Netflix), Vegas Rat Rods (Discovery, Velocity), Mary Makes It Easy (CTV, Food Network US), Family Home Overhaul (HGTV Canada, Hulu); along with big international formats: MasterChef Canada (CTV, Cooking Channel US), The Great Canadian Baking Show (CBC, Netflix), and Iron Chef Canada (Food Network, Discovery Plus). In 2017 Proper Television became a division of Boat Rocker Media.

CATHIE JAMES

Cathie James oversees Proper Television’s development and content creation, executive producing and show running a number of original and international formats including MasterChef Canada (CTV), The Great Canadian Baking Show (CBC, Netflix), Motel Makeover (Netflix), Junior Chef Showdown (Food Network Canada, Hulu) and Mary Makes It Easy (Bell Media, Food Network US).  Prior to joining Proper, Cathie was part of the pioneering executive team at CBC Factual Entertainment that oversaw Dragon’s Den and Battle of the Blades. She has a Master’s degree in Journalism and began her career in news and current affairs.

Lesia Capone

Joining Proper Television in 2005, Lesia Capone has overseen more than 1,000 hours of field and studio-based productions with the company. Capone currently oversees the entire production slate of Proper Television, including The Great Canadian Baking Show (CBC), Mary Makes It Easy (CTV Life Channel), and Cross Country Cake Off (CTV). Prior to joining Proper Television, Capone worked in film production as a freelancer, working on films including Tuxedo, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Deacons for Defense, and Expecting.
